    Editor’s Note

    We welcome our esteemed readers to yet another issue of this Journal. The Fountain University Journal of Management and Social Sciences is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes academic and policy research articles in diverse disciplines including, accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, sociology, public administration, political science, media and mass communication, and criminology and security studies, among others.

    This edition is a Special Edition consisting of seven (7) papers drawn from the 1st International Conference of Fountain University, Osogbo in conjunction with NASFAT Missionary Institute (NMI) tagged FUO-NMI Conference. The conference was held on 21st and 22nd November, 2024 at Fountain University Osogbo with the theme: Navigating the Dynamics of Religion, Politics, Ethnicity and Youth for Peace and Development. While papers presented at the conference covered wide range of disciplines; Pure, Natural and Applied Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Social and Management Sciences, among others, this edition specifically published selected papers in the field of management and social sciences. Contributing scholars include Morufu Onike Abdul-Azeez, Daud Oniyide, Oluwatoyin Shakirat Salami, Ghaffar Adewale Adeleye, Kamal-deen Olawale Sulaiman, Wasiu Oyetunji Bello, Suliyat Olajumoke Mohammadtaofeek, Stephen Seyi Aasa, and Kehinde Kamorudeen Busari. 

    The edition provides analyses of the religious perspective and socio-political explanations of important issues in Nigeria and globally. First, is the issue of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on religion by AbdulAzeez, who also wrote on NASFAT's educational and socioeconomic strategies towards narrowing gaps in Islamic propagation. Similar contribution was made by Oniyide, who wrote on an assessment of moral and ethical challenges in Traditional Arabic Schools in Southwest Nigeria, and Sulaiman & Bello, who assessed human empowerment strategies from the lens of the Tijaniyyah Grassroots Mobilization and Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria (TIGMEIN) Osun State, Nigeria. Lastly, Busari, Mohammadtaofeek & Aasa, and Salami & Adeleye analysed the impacts of political institutions and governance, ethnic and religious identity, and political communication on Nigeria’s national interest and security. All the studies presented plausible conclusions and relevant policy implications for policy makers.

    We welcome our esteemed readers to yet another issue of this Journal. The Fountain University Journal of Management and Social Sciences is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes academic and policy research articles in diverse disciplines including, accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, sociology, public administration, political science, media and mass communication, and criminology and security studies, among others.

    This May 2025 edition consists of six research articles focusing on economic, management, political, media and communication, socio-economic, and socio-political issues. It starts with the study by Ajibade and Osuolale, which investigated the relationship between brand appeal and marketing performance of instant noodles products in Osun State, Nigeria. The global issue of sustainable finance and corporate governance practices was also examined by Olaoye et al. in the context of the Nigerian listed multinational corporations. This edition also captures research from Islamic economics and finance, with contributions from two authors; Yahaya and Ashafa. While Yahaya evaluated the effectiveness of Murabaha financing products of Ja’iz Bank, Ashafa examined the business potential of halal products and services. The contribution from the field of health sociology was made by Akinniyi et al., and it focused on the interplay of health expectations, care quality, and socio-demographic moderators in health-seeking behaviour of health workers in Nigeria. Lastly, we have contribution from the media and mass communication, on the analysis of media framing and peace advocacy in mainstream coverage of the herder-farmer conflicts in Nigeria. All the studies presented plausible conclusions and relevant policy implications for policy makers.  

    We appreciate the contributions of all the authors whose articles featured in this current edition.     Editor’s Note

    We welcome our esteemed readers to yet another issue of this Journal which is gaining increasing visibility in the scholarly community. The Fountain University Journal of Management and Social Sciences is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes academic and policy research articles in diverse disciplines including, accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, sociology, public administration, political science, media and mass communication, and criminology and security studies, among others.

    This November 2024 edition consists of eight research articles, four of which are top quality papers drawn from the 2nd International Conference of the College of Management and Social Sciences, Fountain University, Osogbo, Nigeria. This edition focused on the economic, management, political, media and communication, socio-economic, and socio-political issues. It starts with the study of Olawuyi and Odesola, which investigated the issue of gender stereotypes among filmmakers in Nollywood films. Related to this is the study by Kesseh, which examined and discussed the politics of Twitter ban in Nigeria. Specific contributions to political issues were made by Animashaun and Omitola, as well as Sheu and Ogunsola. While Animashaun and Omitola addressed the issue to political party finance and its relationship with nomination for political positions in Nigeria, Sheu and Ogunsola analysed cases of kidnapping in Nigeria and explained how this could have been influenced by bad governance and corruption. Analysis of accounting ethics and governance integrity, and how effectiveness of these could help to restore public confidence in financial reporting was conducted by Olaoye and Agbaje. The contribution from the field of Sociology was made by Aluko-Arowolo et al. focusing on the review of physician and patients’ relationship in contemporary times. The contributions of Adegboyega and Irhue et al. have implications for business administration and management. While Adegboyega analysed the relationship between family structure and social development of children from the management perspective, Irhue et al. investigated the effect of leadership style on worker’s performance in Nigeria’s organisations. All the studies presented plausible conclusions and relevant policy implications for policy makers.  

    We appreciate the contributions of all the authors. If lapses are found in this production, we apologise and promise to improve on them in subsequent releases. But if readers find it a pleasant menu, we hope to sustain the quality in tandem with our irrevocable commitment to give the Journal greater visibility in the scholarly market.
